It was another full week at ECDC...Letter People Day, a visit from Miss Tulsa State Fair, parachute play, and an outdoor classroom field trip complete with wheelbarrow races, a hayride, and water balloon fights!
Thank you to all the moms and family who attended our May Crowning. It was wonderful bringing this event back to its original format for the first time in three years. I know Mary is smiling in heaven knowing how much the children love her! I hope all of you have a very happy Mother's Day this Sunday.
We will not have Aftercare on Friday in order to hold a Faculty Appreciation event as part of Teacher Appreciation Week. Please help us to recognize our many awesome Marquette teachers. We are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week and any notes of encouragement or thanks would go a long way in recognizing our amazing teachers...

Happy Easter! We celebrated Jesus rising from the dead with Easter egg hunts this week. In catechesis, we participated in The Liturgy of the Light. In gymnastics, we pretended to be different bugs while we climbed and tumbled. We also enjoyed sharing our artwork with you at the Art Show today!
This week we flew kites, played a cello, painted reptiles, mixed primary colors, learned about the Last Supper, met some aliens, and enjoyed some amazing spring weather! Next week is Holy Week and we look forward to the most important time in our Liturgical Year...Easter! There will be no school on Good Friday. We WILL be in school on Easter Monday.
This week we played a real violin in music class, learned about the rainforest, and made kites and rainbows. We continue to prepare for our April 22nd Art Show and Parade and are beginning to learn songs for the May Crowning. See below for more details on both these events.
Please mark your calendars to show that we will not have Aftercare on May 6th in order to hold a Faculty Appreciation event as part of Teacher Appreciation Week. Next week we will be having our second semester Virtus lesson of Protecting God's Children. Beginning on April 11th, our 4th-8th grade students will begin their spring MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing window. The following week, April 18th - 22nd, our 2nd through 3rd grade students will begin their spring MAP testing window.
This week in Catechesis we learned the Parable of the Leaven and reflected on what it teaches us about the Kingdom of God. We welcomed the season of spring and we sent our Lenten collections of baby items to Catholic Charities. Thank you for all the contributions. In Art class we continued preparing for the Art Show and Parade happening on April 22nd.
This week we learned about St. Patrick and how he taught people the Holy Trinity. In Music we listened to a song written by St. Katharine Drexel and played a real xylophone. We heard the story of the found sheep in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and started preparing our box cars in Art for our parade happening April 22nd (more information coming soon).
Marquette is partnering with the School of St. Mary to bring in a fantastic national speaker named Katie Greer. Katie Greer will give a presentation to any interested parent or teacher on Monday, March 21st, at 6:30 in the Vision Gym. April lunch is now open. Just a reminder, if your child has a field trip coming up you may want to check with your teacher before ordering.
A full, fun week was had by all at ECDC! Tuesday we celebrated Mardi Gras with a parade for our friends and family. Wednesday we welcomed Lent with an Ash Wednesday service. We also celebrated Dr. Seuss this week with some wacky outfits and crazy activities!
To celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday this year, on Thursday, March 3rd, students and staff will be able to dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character provided they wear uniform bottoms. Lunch is open for March and will close today at 5:00 PM! Get out this weekend and support our 4th and 5th grade basketball teams as they compete in the end of year tournament! Go Meteors!
Next week marks the beginning of Lent. Tuesday we will have a Mardi Gras parade at 8:30am in the gym. On Wednesday the children will have a short Ash Wednesday service at the chapel. Our collection for Catholic Charities also begins next week. See below for more details.

Marquette will be in session on April 18th (Easter Monday), as a make-up day. RISE and Shine (Donuts) will be moved to April 25th. Lunch is open for March and will close on February 25th at 5 PM.
We had a busy week at ECDC! We made Valentine preparations, played games, and created "heart art", along with preparing the cruets in catechesis and playing percussion instruments in music. We even enjoyed a visit from the dentist to learn about maintaining a healthy smile and the Frogs traveled to the post office and the library!
